Kimberly Aguirre
Kimberly Aguirre is a veterinary student in the dual degree DVM/MPVM program at the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. After completing her first two years of the DVM program, she is stepping out this year to complete the MPVM before coming back to complete her last two years of the DVM. She is originally from Calexico, CA. Kimberly graduated from UC Davis in 2022 with a B.S. in Animal Biology and a minor in Public Health Sciences. From undergrad to vet school, she has been involved in various research projects ranging from pre-harvest food safety to evaluating U.S.-based One health clinics to leptospirosis in unhoused communities. Kimberly's interests lie in livestock health/ medicine, infectious disease epidemiology, food safety, zoonoses, foodborne illnesses, One Health, and promoting accessible veterinary care in rural/ underserved areas. She will be working with Dr. Martinez Lopez (Director of the Center for Animal Disease Modelling & Surveillance) on her MPVM project, looking at risk factors associated with pelvic organ prolapse in sows in the United States Midwest. Outside of school, Kimberly enjoys yoga, playing tennis, dancing salsa/bachata, cooking, and spending time with friends/family/her chihuahua-dachshund mix named Boba.
