Welcome to UC Davis MPVM
The University of California, Davis welcomes applications for the Master of Preventive Veterinary Medicine (MPVM) degree program. The MPVM is a 1-2 year Master’s degree open to veterinarians and other medical professionals. Since 1967, this pioneering program’s more than 1000 graduates have excelled worldwide in leadership, academic, and research positions with universities, private industry, international agencies, non-governmental organizations, and governments.
Our curriculum offers core courses in epidemiology, study design, research methods, leadership, One Health, infectious disease epidemiology, and biostatistics. Elective options allow students to explore zoonotic disease, food safety, diagnostic test evaluation, spatial analysis, mathematical modeling, disease ecology, and many more courses from throughout this university of over 32,000 students. In addition to didactic instruction, students write a manuscript on research they undertake during the course of the program. We support our extensive course offerings and student research with a large, diverse, vibrant faculty including new hires in epidemiology, wildlife, food animals, and poultry health, and a wealth of adjunct contributors from state and federal management agencies and organizations.
