Jeannie Knuchell
Jeannie Dial is from Los Alamitos, California and has called Northern California home since graduating from the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 2015. As a companion animal veterinarian practicing in diverse clinical settings in the greater Sacramento area, she has witnessed pervasive systemic barriers that affect pet owners’ access to care and how these barriers impact all three parties of veterinarian-client-patient relationship. Jeannie is inspired to build upon her clinical knowledge and broaden her research skills at the population level while in the MPVM program to inform a spectrum of clinical care that is not only evidence-based but compassionate, accounting for the well-being of pets, their families, and veterinary staff. Her research interests include companion animal epidemiology, clinical epidemiology, and community-based health interventions. Outside of veterinary medicine, Jeannie enjoys habitat gardening, thrifting, yoga, volunteering at Folsom Lake State Recreation Area, and spending time with her family, friends, and pets.
