Kura Kawahata is a dual degree DVM student who has completed 2 of 4 years of the DVM curriculum at UCD. Their primary veterinary experience comes from a mixed animal practice in a low income, rural area. Their interests are access to care, one health, and interdisciplinary medicine; their favorite species to work with are small ruminants, especially goats! Kura graduated from UGA in 2021 with a B.S. in Biology and minors in Japanese lang/lit and studio art.

Outside of academics, they love knitting, baking, and making art. Kura also enjoys gardening and hiking and spent this summer in an internship with a restoration group based out of Winters to learn more about the ecosystems of this area of California.
