Emilio Mendiola Vázquez is a veterinarian from México, graduated June 2024. As a student, he gained experience in wildlife rehabilitation in Belize, where he worked on manatee and primate rehabilitation. He completed multiple externships in zoos and wildlife centers throughout Texas. His research interests are in infectious diseases and zoonotic disease spillover, particularly at the human-primate interface. Through research, he hopes we can formulate public policy and strength biosecurity measures that prioritize both animal and human health. His goal is to contribute to wildlife conservation through a One Health approach. In his free time, he loves reading, hiking, camping, wildlife watching, and traveling to new places.
